Docking Ports

The ship is equipped with a pair of docking ports, port and starboard, which allow for docking with other spacecraft or space stations. The docking collar of each port is a universal androgynous docking mechanism attached to a telescoping transfer tube. The docking ports are located on the port and starboard sides of the ship in the aft section between decks 4 and 5. This places the docking ports at the widest portion of the ship.

When the docking collar is in the retracted position it is covered by a pair of hull hatches which protect the docking mechanism. When the ship initiates docking maneuvers, the hull hatches will open allowing the docking collar to be extended to meet the receiving craft.

The docking tube is attached to an airlock between decks 4 and 5 which then leads to a landing and a pair of ramps. These ramps extend to deck 4 and 5 respectively. Both the airlock and the ramp area can be sealed off from the rest of the ship and each other.

Equipment for the airlock and the docking tube and collar is housed on deck 5 fore and aft of the airlock, and completes the docking port module.
